If you go above the A811 in scotland you will be very luck to get your mobile broadband working at any speed.

If your living in scotland or visiting check vodafone coverage firstly to ensure you have coverage in the area you live or are attending. If not, your best option would be tapping into the BT Openzone. If you are with vodafone you should have access to BT Wifi on your plan.

The 3 broadband coverage in scotland is improving but if you are in the north if scotland my advice would be to forget mobile broadband at this point. If you live within about a 40 miles wide strip from Glasgow to edinburgh then go for it. The coverage is excellent around these areas. Also up the east cost to Aberdeen you are almost guaranteed a good service.

The north west of Scotland in my experience is very, very poor for coverage. Getting a mobile broadband signal of any kind here can prove to be a challenge!

Before you buy check out the 3 coverage chart for more information.

Vodafone offer one of the fastest broadband dongles in the UK. However, for Scottish customers it is essential if you live outside of the main cities that you check vodafone coverages on their website to see if this is a suitable option.

If you live in Glasgow or Edinburgh you should have good coverage, but again check your individual post code. It is simple to check the Vodafone mobile broadband Scotland coverage. When you click the link above it will take you directly to the vodafone site that will have a type in box for your post code. Simply type your post code in and the vodafone broadband coverage will show you a map or your post codered are. You can also search by town name, this is useful if you want to check other areas where you may use your Vodafone mobile broadband in Scotland.

Now back to the coverage chat on the Postcode Map. Vodafone display the 3G & Mobile Broadband services based on their inside and outside coverage. For 3g and mobile broadband service this is set with Red Colour, pink or Yellow. Red is excellent going to yellow as poor.

For the standard services these are set in Dark blue, going lighter. This is a very easy to use tool from Vodafone and will give you peace of mind prior to buying your desired broadband product.
